Activities
One of the best things about our MOMS Club chapter is the variety of no or low cost activities we offer our members each month. Every month our club coordinates an activities calendar, with activities based on the needs and interests of our members and their children. Our members are actively involved in the planning and hosting of all activities. Along with events such as local tours, park days, parties, and kids crafts, we have a variety of sub-clubs which meet once a month. Below is a list of some of the activities we offer.
Monthly Business Meetings – We meet once a month to discuss and vote on (if necessary) any new business items and to update members on new things happening with the club. This time is also used to catch up with moms we may not have seen for some time. This time also gives us the opportunity to meet with prospective members and to welcome new members to the club.
Playgroups – Smaller, age-appropriate groups for the children. Playgroups are a great way for our children to meet with friends while playing in a warm and comfortable environment at a member’s home during the cold winter months or outside during the warmer months at a local park. We also meet at play areas inside malls and other recreational facilities in our area. Both moms and children get to know each other better.
Moms' Night Out – You deserve a night off from all your hard work. Once a month we get together at night to relax and enjoy a little time away. It may be dinner at a restaurant, out to see the latest hit at the box office, a recipe exchange at a member’s house or any number of other different activities. Each month is something new and different and we hope that you will join us.
Outings – What would our club be without outings to visit the local sites of interest? With all that we do there is sure to be something for everyone. If not, let us know and we will do it. Do you like animals and fish? Then join us at the L.A. Zoo and Aquarium of the Pacific. Like museums? We visit places like Discovery Science Center and The Kidspace Museum in Pasadena. We also do seasonal activities such as watermelon picking and a visit to the pumpkin patch. That’s just a short list of the many outings that our chapter does.
Social Events – Gotta celebrate all those holidays with a little food, fun and music. We’ll have some snacks, play games, make crafts and enjoy each others company.
Service Projects – Our club wants to do what we can to help out others in our community. Each year, we will do at least one service project benefiting children in our community.
Comfort Foods– Everyone needs a little extra help sometimes, whether it be during the excitement of a pregnancy and new baby or during times of hardship such as illness, surgery or the death of a loved one. Our Comfort Foods coordinator is there to help by organizing meals to be delivered by fellow MOMS. Help can also be provided by someone simply running to the store for medicine when your child is ill and you are home-bound. If you need help, Comfort Foods is here for you.
Book Club - We get together about every 6 weeks to discuss a book voted on by the members. Join us at a local coffee house for some treats, stimulating conversation and good times with amazing women.
Cooks' Corner - Every month we have a themed potluck. Don't be fooled by the name. While some of us LOVE to cook, if cooking in your house means it comes from the store pre-made or the microwave, we don't discriminate. Join us for good food and great company.
Message Board – The message board helps our members communicate with each other. It provides us with an exclusive member’s only space where our members can share resources, great deals they have heard about, information about events in the area, ask questions and look for advice and recommendations from fellow members. For the safety of our members, we do not post activity locations, details, or members contact information.
